Oton Guerrero & his wife at a USPS Dock

Founderscloseup

The year was 1935. The country was still suffering from the Great Depression. And Oton Guerrero decided to begin what is considered to be one of the oldest almost continuous postal highway contract companies. The company has operated continuously with only a brief 8 month interruption in 1975. And it has grown from operating a small fleet of tractor trailers and straight trucks servicing south Texas from McAllen to Brownsville into the company that it is today.

After Oton’s passing, the company was inherited by his son, Arnold Guerrero, whose name the company bears. He operated the company until he passed in 2006.

Arnold Guerrero

Arnold Guerrero

Arnold married Ana in October of 1958. Together they had 4 children. All have independent professional careers in the medical profession except for Albert who was in service to the USMC during the first Iraqi war. In June of 2006, following her husband’s passing, Ana took possession of the Postal contracts and transferred them from her husband’s name to her own.

Ana Guerrero

Albert, Arnold and Ana’s younger son, began working with his father at an early age and began driving well before he was 18. He spent some time studying psychology before enlisting in the US Marine Corps in 1989. He served in Desert Storm for 3 1/2 years. He received an honorable medical discharge in 2003 and spent the next 3 years living in El Paso. In 2006 he returned home to help his mother with both his father, whose health was failing, and with the business. Since his father’s passing he was worked full time on the business.

So up until this present day, it is Albert that runs the day to day operation of the company. And he will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Richard Reyna & Albert

Even before he could drive, Albert was destined to take his place with the family business. Next to Albert is Richard Reyna who is also a contractor for the US Postal Service. Even back then they knew that they would battle each other in the contracting world! 🙂

It is obvious that Arnold’s Mail Service has been a family business for decades. It started as a family business and remained so.
